How to install PocketSphinx on a Raspberry Pi

 

 

 

This guide will show you how to install PocketSphinx on your Raspberry Pi. PocketSphinx is a super lightweight speech and voice recognition engine.

2. Extract the files into separate directories
3. Install bison, ALSA, and swig
4. Compile sphinxbase
5. Compile pocketsphinx

Download the latest version of sphinxbase and pocketsphinx

You can find the downloads on GitHub

wget https://sourceforge.net/projects/cmusphinx/files/sphinxbase/5prealpha/sphinxbase-5prealpha.tar.gz/download -O sphinxbase.tar.gz

wget https://sourceforge.net/projects/cmusphinx/files/pocketsphinx/5prealpha/pocketsphinx-5prealpha.tar.gz/download -O pocketsphinx.tar.gz

Extract the files into separate directories

tar -xzvf sphinxbase.tar.gz
tar -xzvf pocketsphinx.tar.gz

Install bison, ALSA, and swig

sudo apt-get install bison libasound2-dev swig

Compile sphinxbase

cd sphinxbase-5prealpha
./configure --enable-fixed
make
sudo make install

Compile pocketsphinx

cd ../pocketsphinx-5prealpha
./configure
make
sudo make install

Test out the installation

src/programs/pocketsphinx_continuous -samprate 48000

src/programs/pocketsphinx_continuous -samprate 48000 -inmic yes -nfft 2048

> sudo apt-get install pulseaudio

>dpkg -l | grep "~~~"
